The recommended vlan encapsulation for Fast Ethernet is ISL. I've never
tried using 802.1Q encapsulation with Fast Ethernet interfaces but if it
woks then great. One thing thoughthe configuration you posted is Ok for
the most part but you need to configure a subinterface for VLAN 1 too so the
Your feelings are right... HDLC is by design a point-to-point encapsulation
for serial interfaces which means that it cannot be used for Multiaccess
networks (mulitpoint). You need to use a Multiaccess type network like
Frame-Relay or X.25.

Very simple
Any LAN technology (like Ethernet, Token Ring, and FDDI) is considered
Broadcast Multiaccess.
Packet-Switched (like Frame-Relay and X.25) ) and Circuit-Switched (like
ISDN and the analog PSTN) technologies are considered Non-Broadcast
Multiaccess.

Yes it does. You will need to use an IOS PLUS image that supports ISL or
802.1Q encapsulation. Don't forget to configure sub-interfaces.
Good luck...

exams like Routing 2.0? Are they available already or I have to wait until

It doesn't matter whether you're using Link-State, Distance Vector, or No
Dynamic routing protocol at all. Null interfaces come handy when don't wanna
waste router CPU cycles with Access-List processing and it's
Administratively prohibited ICMP packets for security reasons.

When I say "it's not working" I mean the following:
- The DSU led is steady green
- The ERROR led is flashing in red
- The ALARM led is steady red
Did loopback tests on both units with a straight through cable and they both
worked fine.
Performed a QRSS test on all DS0 with my T1 croosover cable
looks like this, right?
T-1 crossover:
1 4
2 5
3 3
4 1
5 2
6 6
7 7
8 8

Did you set one clock source to internal and the other to line? I am doing
this with two Cisco 3661's with the WIC-1DSU (internal csu/dsu) cards.

I am trying to make a couple of ADTRAN TSU 100 to work with a T1 crossover
cable (pins: 1 to 4 & 2 to 5) but it's not working. Did anybody try this? I
will appreciate any help
Thanks.

Definetely try Flow-Control set to none and reboot your PC. For some reason
it doesn't work immediately after changing the setting.
