Yes, I am speaking about routing on the internet with BGP-4. If I am a carrier that has 1 AS and I purchase another network (that has multiple ASes) from another carrier, should I integrate them into a single AS, or keep them as multiple AS? It is not that I want to have multiple AS, however, I wi

Yikes. I think I'll defer to Howard, et. al. on that one. Here are my thoughts on it, though. For each separate routing policy you want to present to the internet, you need a separate AS. This is to prevent inconsistent views of your AS in the internet. Once you have connected your networks,

As a matter of fact, I'm at the IETF meeting in Minneapolis. There's been quite a bit of discussion of global routing system scaling issues, and growth in the number of AS is one concern, although by no means the chief one. There has been very little growth in AS associated with transit ISPs, bu

Hi, I am repeating my question, since I didn't hear from anybody, so I assume that I didn't ask it the right way. Here it is: If you want to connect AS 100 to AS 300 or multiple AS's what are different ways that we can do it? We can use BGP. But I saw this question asking that know "other w
