Hi Folks,
Is anybody willing to trade in a November Lab date this year for next
February?
Regards,
George.

I think you might be right on this. I'm now configuring a 2948G and I
see that all of my VLAN1 ports show up in 'show spantree' even if STP is
disabled. If the port is in another VLAN it won't show up at all. So,
STP probably wasn't even the cause the problems we were having earlier.
Thanks fo
That may be true in theory, but then why would it only show VLAN1 ports
in the output of "show spantree"? If that were the case I'd expect to
see all ports on the switch to show up; however, only ports in the
second module show up. Oh well, I've stopped worrying about it. I
really wish the LAN

All connected ports are in the forwarding state, which is odd beca

Our LAN people have worked on it a lot and have never found a resolution
to the Dell NIC issue.
I'm starting not to trust the output of the 'show spantree' command
because it's showing conflicting information. In addition, there are
other ports that don't show up in the output that still appear
Sounds like it is a normal condition after all. Hence, when STP is turned
off, all ports will be forwarding.

John,
It might be just a display issue on the switch, I just checked couple of my
6500's and for the VLAN's that have the STP disabled with active ports
I see the same results. I think when you plug in a laptop to any available
port
on the same VLAN you'll see that it doesn't go thru STP phases a

With portfast disabled how long does it take for an interface to come on
line? Can you test to see if it is sending BPDUs out those interfaces? I'm
wondering if in fact spanning tree is disabled but "forwarding" is just how
a connected port is identified.

temporary fix, though. Nothing else has worked so far.
