Your instructor's actions don't sound much in line with the real world.
Version 13 does not exist the IOS versions are only up to 12.1.(7). The
closest GD is 12.0(9) Write Mem works on my 12.1(x) 4500 router. Lastly-
I cannot believe someone teaching Routing 2.0 class would cover RIP not

Chances are that your instructor was driving a cab or installing security
alarms for a living a few months ago... Read the course material for factual
information related to the exam. I wouldn't rely heavily on anything that an
instructor said - there's not a lot of "value-add" there...
