Is anyone using a soft shackle to attach the Jib clew to the sheet? If so
what brand and any problems in operation like catching on shrouds.

I guess it depends on the kind of lines you're using on the sheets, their
diameter, and perhaps how fresh they are.. I started doing the luggage
tag when I bought new sheets last year. They are nothing exotic, 1/2" New
England Ropes Sta Set. So far it's really easy to undo no matter how much
I have the APSltd brand on Touché'. Excellent upgrade. Headsail virtually zips
through the fore triangle now. Before, the bowlines hung up on the forward
lower shrouds.

I followed the directions on L-36.com for a better soft shackle. have not
used them with sheets, but there is very little of it to catch on anything.

Google soft shackle and you’ll see lots ofpictures and ideas……….. We use them
on Impromptu, a C&C38MKIIC for all genoa sizes……….I’d never go back to knots.

The knot on the soft shackle is a fraction of the size of a bowline in a 3/8"
sheet. Additionally, spectra is wicked slippery.
Like Joel, I made mine from directions on L-36.com. I use one on my jib sheets,
I use one on each toe rail for my preventer blocks, and I use one run through

Here is an interesting option I have not seen before- T-ring sewn into the
clew. It is hard to imagine this hanging up on anything.

Interesting. But I wouldn't use it as shown. I'd put the eye on the sheet
over the T, port sheet first then starboard sheet.

method.
