This afternoon among the thousands of cackling and hundreds of Canada geese,
there were three greater white fronted geese, as well as two snow geese and an
Arctic goose (Ross’s goose). The resident bald eagles also were sitting around

I agree, I did see a couple of American Redstarts this spring on migration but I saw Merlin repeatedly identify AMRE when a yellow warbler was singing. I did see and hear a yellow warbler and saw Merlin call it a redstart, so another example of how Merlin can be a great tool for learning,

Boulder Caper started by Ted Floyd about 15 years ago. Undeterred by COVID or

It’s hard to tell which ibis, and I learned from Steve Mlodinow that they
should be registered as glossy/white faced. No clear white mark on the face,
seems a little more greenish on the body abs reddish on the neck. On the west
side with cormorants.

There were 15 wild turkeys along the Diagonal Highway just east of Bustamante
Wood, just west of Airport Road. Left Hand Creek passes just to the north, but

I have several western tanagers in my yard in Niwot for the first time that I
can remember. There are males and females, both, calling (not singing), and
they prefer the suet. What a treat. Nothing says “neotropical migrant” better

There is a front page article in today’s Boulder Daily Camera on the Brown
Booby from Left Hand Canyon. It looks pretty good, even underscoring that it
could be the state’s 500th bird pending a review by the Colorado Bird Records
Committee.

end. Someone told me about it on Friday and said there were two; I am only

Maybe it's not huge, but this is the first time I have had a white winged junco
among the other slate colored, Oregon, and pink sided juncos at my feeders. I
wonder if it is due to the snow or just a coincidence.
