I would hope some of my 401k funds have both M$ ($30.90) and Apple ($186.16)

Apple charges for the major releases, such as 10.4, 10.5. The minor
updates are a free download.
Apple's major OS X major releases have been pretty good since 10.3; most
of the problems have been relatively minor.
Thank you,

Hey, we should ALL be so lucky as to own Microsoft or Apple stock! (Or
any stock, for that matter.)
Microsoft and Apple have advertising budgets that dwarf the GNP of even
a few first-world countries. They don't need to enlist people on lists

10.5.x updates will be free. You will have to pay again at 10.6 (at
least a year or two).

It may not be as fast, but it will be more steady and reliable in most
cases. You pay a lot more, but your bandwidth to the other end of the
connection is guaranteed, and if it goes down you will see the telco
there in hours, not days. It is a different type of service.

You should look in the box. You may have a Mighty Mouse and not even know
it.
Define "several years" please. When I bought Macs at my old
employer, they came with the one button mouse or none at all - those
were G4's, G5's, and Powerbook G4's.

I have had similar experiences. Red Roof Inns and their ilk provide broadband
free of charge, but upscale places typically charge $9.95 per day, more or
