Luc--- I'm sorry you got shot down the way you did.
Please don't stop being a beta tester. Beta testers are what makes a great
distro release, and you are appreciated! :) I'm sure Andrej just had a bad
day. :(

Yes, it would be very nice to have in 82!
I personally don't need it with DSL, but I have customers that could
really use it I think also that because there are SO many of these
particular modems out there, this would be a huge benefit for Mandrake! :)

Another problem I have found with MdkInst, is that it finds and mounts
my Ext3 partitions as Ext2.
This can be a real problem since there can be times that mdkinst locks
up, or can't complete for some reason, or won't unmount properly, or
some other reason, so leaves these partitions in a
My vote it to have NS4 back into the main release also. It is the only
browser that just _works_ in many situations. Besides that, It is the
only browser that has the *Images* button, which I use all the time.
The Images button was supposed to be put into the Mozilla tree, but I
think,
As you can see below, a Freshen of all installed files (rpm -Fvh *.rpm)
went beautifully. This is from fully resynced RPMS and RPMS2
directories up to this very minute. I had just done a Freshen of just
the KDE apps last night (rpm -Fvh kde*.rpm), so that is why they are not
on this list.
Sorry Tim, but I agree with Jason.
Remember Tim, that the LSB has chosen RPM, and so has Mandrake, so deal
with it. :)
Also, I don't really think that Jason was talking about releasing the
distro as statlinked, only the add-on apps that can be downloaded. When
I download an app, I really
Thanks for all the great work on 8.2 guys... you are all very much

I assume that you know that the RPM database does not exist (as far as
RPM v.4.0 is concerned) after a fresh install of Cooker.
You can't install or freshen (update) any apps because RPM can't find
anything installed.
Like I said, I'm sure you know about this, but I just don't know why it
1) Would it be possible to divide up the RPMs to the 2 different
directories (RPMS vs. RPMS2) for the two different CDs on all the Cooker
mirror sites? This would be a BIG HELP in keeping them up to date.
the list is (now) in Mandrake/base/rpmslist
Would it be possible now then to have
Hey Pixel- I would appreciate that you didn't answer my mails anymore.
Do you really think you know everything?? Many of us are not programmers,
but know a great deal about beta testing, as well as other things in life.
I was under the assumption that Mandrake wanted this all tested, and
I found this little bit of info at the site below. I thought others might
enjoy it as I did.

Netscape is much more customisable than most people think!
Many people know you can use the commandline
Chmouel, would you do me a favor please. Would you please build a .spec
file for X-ISP and attach it back to an e-mail for cooker for me. I would
really like to try it out but need an RPM. Looks like a pretty nice ISP
dialer.
If you think it is good enough to submit to Cooker, that would be
Chmouel, would appreciate another favor as well. Would you please build an
RPM and submit to Contrib the latest release of K-Office. They just
released another build on September 16th for QT2.0, and I would like to try
it out. I think allot of us would like to try it out actually!!
ah, that's more clear now! Please download the mdkinst, or at least
mdkinst/usr/X11R6/bin/XF86_VGA16 (and put it in
the_dir/Mandrake/mdkinst/usr/X11R6/bin/XF86_VGA16)
You must now have the mdkinst directory, even if it uses
mdkinst_stage2.gz (for
convenience (cdrom install), or
Ok--- have done this and it freezes at:

do you mean that's all it says on console 1 (F1) ???
argh! can't help you much in that case ;-(
Hey- no problem. :)
Just tried it again, and the same problem. (Just wanted to make sure from

Pixel just downloaded the latest mdkinst_stage2.gz
file, as well ass
all the latest-n-greatest from the base directory, also have the latest

Sorry, first chance in several days to test a clean install.

Of course- hd install -
well, are you sure you have a good mirror? could you look at
what's wrong using
the console on ctrl-alt-f2 ?
I see you're checking the files now. I am in the middle of updating many of
the RPMs from Cassini, and it is time for sleep, so will catch the
ctrl+alt+f2 messages in the morning
When you say download the RPMs into the directory you mean through Bullet
Proof FTP?

Yes, of course...

Normally Workstation, but all that has changed now. Actually, I kinda miss
the old simple Workstation selection.
Since we are talking about this, I suggest there is a

no, all auto. the ramdisk=32000 option does not use any memory,

before I use this so that it will find this new file, or do I just leave it.
In other words, which is the default, the new file, or the mdkinst
directory??
