Hello, this has been a problem since kde 1.x - although there are options to configure the background of kdm (like wallpapers and patterns) no matter what i do, it still does not work. Is it just these RPM sets or is this "feature" so terribly broken?

I have the same problem.  I'm one of those that posted about it earlier.  So far I haven't received any response regarding a fix for it and I have been unable to change it's behavior no matter what I do.  I've pretty much given up on it.  No one from Mandrake seems to be too interested in fixing
