Definitely, and they even make small ones that cook small amounts of rice too.
But you can cook any amount in one -- I cook about a third of a cup of rice in
mine all the time. My rice cooker is the appliance that comes right after my
microwave and my can opener in terms of how often it gets use
Thanks. Only reason I didn't do it was because I don't have a rice cooker.
Does it pay to buy one of those for a single person?

Yep, I've got a Panasonic rice cooker, and it's wonderful. I've found that you
get softer brown rice if you put it in the water in the rice cooker for about
an hour, plugged in, before you hit the button to turn it on. And since it's a
single toggle switch to turn it on its 100% blind accessible

Hello.
I been cooking rice for 20 years and I finally got tired at messing
things up.
Its one of those things where I never knew how the things would turn out
from pot to pot no matter how I tried. More an art than science.
Some times it would over cook or stick, or be too mushy.

The standard wisdom is that the bigger the onion the milder it is. The darker
it is the sweeter it is, so purple are sweeter than red, which are sweeter than
yellow and white. That said, the "Ten-Fifteen" onion, a breed of onion

Hi I know that the large Spanish onions are widely used by sub shops.
They seem to be a tad stronger than the Vidalia sweet onions. It depends
what you want to use them on. I use the red for salads, the large Spanish
for subs hamburgers and rarely use the small onions for anything else. Ju

I know that white onions are the strongest and hottest.
Red and yellow onions are sweet; but I don't know which of these 2 colours
is the sweeter.

Hi Will
I have done the same thing..smile
It happens to the best of us and brown rice is a bit more tricky than white
rice.
Here is what I do(everyone does it different but this is what works for me)
2 cups of brown rice
1 can of pineapple chunks
1cup half cup of chopped broccoli

Also note that you can save your pan -- soak it in cold water and the rice
starches should release. Always use cold water to clean up rice starch, as hot
water makes it stickier.

Hi,
You can also cook rice in the microwave. I put 1 cup of brown rice in a large
microwave-safe dish with 2-1/2 cups liquid. Cook on high for 10 minutes and
then stir. Cook on 50% power for an additional 25 minutes. Cover the rice to
cook. I check the rice after 10 minutes and stir, then again
Hi, Will,
I forgot to add to my last post, that brown rice takes about 45 minutes to
cook. White rice takes about 20 minutes.
Good Luck!

I particularly like cooking rice in a rice cooker. Once cooked, I like to
store the rice in ziplock freezer bags in the freezer. I like brown rice,
because of its nutritional content, its flavor and consistency.
Happy rice making!

Hi, Will,
Brown rice requires more liquid when cooking than white rice. For brown rice,
the ratio is 3 to 1, so you need 3 cups of liquid to 1 cup of rice. Using
broth is good because it gives the rice some flavor. Also, did you lower the
heat once the rice and broth were boiling? Don't give
Hi,
I tried making rice the other day and ran into a problem that I need help
solving.
I was told that brown rice was better and healthier than white rice.
I got a sauce pan, put two cups of chicken broth, and one cup of brown rice.
Actually, I first put the chicken broth to boil, and once i
