Help!
I cannot install courier!
I have gdbm installed on my machine.
I looked at the faq and it says there may be a
problem if it is installed in a location different to what configure expects. It
says "See "Q: I have OpenLDAP, or
OpenSSL, or MySQL installed" for how to resolve this situation
Hello. I'm running imapd, authdaemond and courierd and am seeing these
errors with great frequency.
What action can I take to find and fix whatever is generating them?

I just enabled authenticated esmtp but now the server is requiring auth for
incoming mail as well as relays. What I need is authentication for relaying but
obviously not for incoming mail delivered to local addresses. Where should I

Can anyone tell me whether or not you can setup a "global address book"
for
courier mail on the server? (i.e. like Microsoft Exchange server for

Hey all!
I've got my server set up so that I can send mail to other servers. I'm just
using standard auth.
Shortly after sending a message to a user on my server, This shows up on the
console:

Hi All,
I am running Courier for esmtp/IMAP/webmail. When I use sqwebmail to set
up an autoreply, it only works if the mail is comming from the outside.
If someone sends an e-mail to another user inside the company, the mail
is delivered, but no response is sent. Any ideas?
TIA,
Kenny

When I do enable those (the three check boxes in Standard, TLS, port 587), I
see in the log that all mail is rejected - with the 'server requires
authentication' message.
Or, are you talking about the check boxes at the bottom, "ESMTP
Authentication", allowed SSL/non-SSL methods?

Why can't I use 8bit characters (like german or swedisch chars)
in the dsn* files? THe mailserver complains if i do so and I read

for local only purposes, how may i do it anyway?

Hi there,
I have a set of authdaemons running for courier-imap and another set
for sqwebmail. They came because of each individual installation.
Do I really need two sets or is there a way to tell courier-imapd and sqwebmail
to user the same set of authdaemons?
Cheers,
Stefan

Sorry, this list is not about sendmail :)
Does anyone have an auth module for Courier-IMAP written in Perl that they
would be willing to share? I have been hacking on one from qmail
(checkpassword) but am only partially successful in getting it working
Thanks,

I have a question about the pop3 server; I have been using Courier
for awhile and I have several users who unfortunately like to leave
their mail on the server for 7 days.
The problem I have is that it appears that the pop3 server is reading
the contents of every email... when you have 3 users s

I'm using authvchkpw (courier-imap-1.4.3) to authenticate against

Lol, software used for spam advertised on a mail server list? Makes me

The organization I work for has decided to use Mulberry for Windows,
the Mac, and Linux over Eudora. :-)
Although my boss wants me to use Cyrus IMAP with LDAP, I want to use Courier IMAP with

The following problem occurs with some of the mail accounts when connecting
to courier-imap-1.4.3 using mail client (Outlook Express/Eudora):
1) "unexpected termination of connection" message after 1 minute (even if
timeout limit on client is > 1 minute)
or
2) "timeout waiting for server" message
Can a recipient server issue a 544 Message rejected by filter error? As
