I think the main problem here is that most computer users don't unmount
their memory card properly when used in the computer. This will be no
problem when they only read from the card, but if they write to the card
the filesystem will be with errors if they remove the card before the

why implement in the ability to empty a card? On my opinion even the import

is not relevant. I don't think it's Darktable duty to implement such features
so, if ever,
the idiotproof way is certa

Why not then, just import, stick the card back in the camera and then format
the card. IMO that is better than deleting using the computer. You never know
what hidden files might be put on your card by your OS.

Pascal,
You are right, I agree that safety is very important, butthe option
should be on the user side.
I should the one deciding on which side I wantto go.
Maybe when the user selects the option of deleting after import, a
warning could pop-up alerting and asking for confirmation.

Hi all,
After upgrading to dt 1.2.3, from Pascal PPA, I noticed that the
dialogue box to import from camera, in the settings tab, misses the
option to delete after importing the files.
Without this option, I have to perform the additional task of delete the
imported images from the memory ca
If I understand correctly what you are saying
* you are taking images with -1 EV
* you want to dial up +1EV automatically when importing into darktable
I can't help but ask... why did you dial that -1 EV in the first place if
you like the 0 EV look better ? is this to avoid over-exposure ?
I don

Just a little note, no need to return to the lightable, you can also
do that from

Welcome to darktable (and Pentax :) ).
As I think has been said it's probably a bad idea to expose to the left as it
guarantees suboptimal results for dynamic range and noise. Exposing normally
or to the right is the way to go, normally, unless you actually want noisy

I posted this earlier at Flickr but seems it is more appropriate here.
I am really digging Darktable! Using my Pentax K5 I have been attempting the
expose to the left strategy. So, I use the TAv shutter Aperture priority mode
limited to iso1600 and -1EV. In doing this, most of my photos
A quick read up on Gorman-Holbert conversion claimed this was basically taking
just the luminance info from LAB mode and then darkening the result with a
multiply blend.
My guess is that the monochrome module (like most dt modules) operates natively
in LAB mode and essentially uses the same pro
Hi,
for some days I have been trying to duplicate that black and white conversion
method in darktable. Internet resources are plenty on descriptions based on
photoshop. I think that a procedure shown below does the work:
1. completely desaturate using a module like color correction
2. create a du
