Hello,
there have been no objections, so I released commons-parent based on
39-RC1.
The next iteration is also opened on the trunk (and I bumped ASF parent

Git does detect rename-and-modify, however it is an heuristic so you
cannot rely on it. But at least interactively you can diff aribritary
file/revisions.
(internally of course Git does not store diffs anyway, so it is just a
representation of a commit - which is also used in some situations for
merging).

I actually would run maven for [VFS] with java7 (to get the new

This is partially based on the wording of the apache maven dow

I would suggest you propose and discuss a concrete idea (after reading

It would actually be helpfull if you can Report back, if the new Version works
in your Scenario: rember it is not an official release yet. (And I am not Sure

BTW: -P apache-release does not work with VFS as it fails the
source:single execution (missing assembly descriptor which is in dist/
for VFS). It seems to work with -Prelease, do we want to use this?

However, for a first RC where it is expected to not be final (including a RC
qualifier in the POM) I would release with an -rc1 tag. (should we use the new
format if the 2.0 tag commons-vfs2-2.1-rc1 or go back to VFS2.1-rc1?

d I would rather have soon a 2.2 (once we know how to do it) than
spending more time on the bugs.
