I haven't been following that either. I am not certain it is settled.
I have the sense that this is not about small donations.
I should also say that "earmarked" is the actual term I've seen, not

Not so unlikely. Targeted donations are among the
the San Diego
City College Robotics team can spend.
If Apache only manages funds on a whole foundation basis, I will
probably never add ASF to my donation list.

Unfortunately this community hasnt been very vocal about budgeting and is
very lurky to know if we have any funds at all at the end of the day, we
used to have very clear reports:

so might it help with buildbot costs?
I know this is not the best list to talk about this since, well, is more of
an Apache thing than OpenOffice. However Mozilla Foundation just partner
with Coinbase to take bitcoin donations. Wonder if this could be an idea
that could pick up with the Apache Foundation.

It has been possible for a while. Apache accepts Bitcoins donations. See

I wasn't sure where to send this, so sent it to you guys (dev team).
I just tried donating to apache project via paypal and it said that this
recipient cannot currently accept donations. Wasn't sure you were aware.

Hi,
in relation to our budget planning I asked myself if OpenOffice has any
impact on the donations to the ASF? Well I don't know and we can
probably figure this out but the question is what can we do ti collect
more donations and use our brand more effective.
When I look on our main website I

Hi,
sorry for my top posting but I always fail to quote emails like this correct.
It is no big thing here, the ASF had a pay pal account and people can donate
whatever they want. We simply have to encourage people to do it and gave to
make clear that donations are made for ASF and not only

reasonably close to that. Also, the OpenOffice
infrastructure requirements (buildbots, management) generates additional
expenses for the Foundation that only benefit the OpenOffice project.
In short: if OpenOffice can use its web traffic and popularity to drive
more donations to the Foundation
FWIW last time I checked there was a huge increase
