would really like to see is PDF composition., editing.

I agree, a simple viewer is not so interesting per se (except for the
part that can be intergrated into another application) but what would
really be cool is for PDFBox to also become an OSS alternative for
overpriced Acrobat. There are now all these little command-line tools.

for PDF composition. It uses open office to edit and annotate PDF
documents and then produces the documents as well.

Summer of Code (GSoC) project during next summer. That would give us a

My experiences with GSoC were not all that positive. Therefore, I'm not
offering to be a GSoC mentor anymore. Well, maybe I should not have
taken two students at once but still, if the student isn't focused
enough, all the mentoring doesn't help.
I do have an interest in building this PDFBox GUI.
Well neither I have been a mentor, nor want to be. But if some help is
needed I can.

understand that there has been some struggle with the choice of UI layer for
the proposed application? If that's still up for debate, then I'd like to
suggest that you look at Apache Pivot. I'm on the PMC for Pivo
' with which to 'see' the document better.
