It sounds like you're considering flyout navigation from a vertical list, which can be difficult for users to select, since it's easy to mouse off the active area. For that reason, I'd lean toward collapsible navigation, also known as tree navigation. That's assuming it suits your architecture. Ja

Nice discussion. It made me think. Norman says that innovation cannot come from design research. It seems that for him invention and innovation are the same thing. They are pretty close, yet Nussbaum is right by saying that "Invention has to have socio-economic value to become innovation." We can
