have lame installed but when i go to the lame site all that is
available is source code (.tar.gz files)??? i know from audioripper

I think I read somewhere that a 10M g router would be ok for MP3
files.
Would it be a good idea to go for the 54M g when using lossless files

If it really is this system intensive it might be nice to be able to
schedule it to run in the middle of the
night rather than on an interval.
You can;
Set the iTunes rescan interval to 0 and use the 'rescan' plugin to set a
scheduled time.

I have been running diverse versions up to 5.4.1 which was stable and fine. On
the last weekend I changed to 6.03 then the nightly of 6.0, the nightly of 6.1

802.11b (11mbps) can be OK for lossless music streamed at

The line level outputs from an SB are sufficient to drive an AMP3
happily. The AMP3 has a single stereo input, so if you want to change
sources without unplugging then a passive selector or preamp will be
required.
If you use volume control on the SB then all you need is the AMP3, PSU

I am planning to install an SB2 such that slimserver and the SB2 are on
different private subnets of my LAN. Is this possible? The docs
sugggest that the SB2 will look for the slimserver on it's own subnet.
Is there a way to tell it to look elsewhere? Or to give it the actual
IP address of

Unfortunately you cant. iTunes will only store the Play List file under
My Documents My Music iTunes. You can change the music library in
iTunes but not the location of the play list file. If you move it
iTunes can't see it and the links will not work in Slim Server.

I have Itunes on a different machine than the slimserver. This is so that I
can use the large drive connected to that computer to store the music and
use Itunes locally on the computer. The XMl file is located in the usual
mymusic folder.

It will autodetect on the local subnet, but you can punch in a manual IP
