I create my FLAC files using dbPowerAMP and to my knowledge it didn't
(doesn't) have a ReplayGain feature. How can I add this metadata to my

If you have no need to use the drive on systems that will not read NTFS
(such as a Mac, a linux box or Win9x) then you did the right thing
formatting it in my opinion.
NTFS is a far more robust fileing system that FAT32 and is less likely
to become corrupt if the external case is powered down or

I see the exact same symptoms here.
On a simple 11b network (essentially what I wrote about in
http://www.bgnett.no/~peter/pf/en/wireless.simple.html) where I have
two freebsd, one openbsd and a windows box connection quite happily,
the squeezebox manages to associate, but simply will not commun

I ripped 5 new CD's yesterday with Windows Media Player. When selecting
one of the 5 CD's to play the player section shows 2 of each track.
However, the duplicates all have a "-" in front of the track. When

This sounds to me as if the wma stations you are listening to can't be
decoded by the player but can be decoded by the server. The newer
releases moved wma decode to the player for SB2/3, but not softsqueeze
or older players. Hence the difference you see when you upgrade.

Thanks for the reference. I've added the "Common Title" and the library
is rescanning now. I'm curious how this will turn out, since I'm using
separator characters for some of the artists. I'll post an update if

It's easy to make such a playlist in iTunes, and then use that playlist
in SlimServer. I'm not sure how to do it directly using SlimServer, but
I'm sure a script could be written for that purpose.

I guess I'm a little late, but you didn't have to reformat it. FAT32 can
be read and written to by XP...and Macs. NTFS does not play well with
Macs. However, unless you're using a Mac, it shouldn't make a
difference to you.

I don't know if you'll have to reformat the disk, it depends if you are
using NTFS or FAT32 in the main hard disk.
If you want to though, right click on My Computer, click Manage and
then click on Disk Management
There you will have the new disk, right click on it and select format,
