I tried FLAC but having to rip every CD twice (second time for my iPod)
seemed like a bit of a waste of time. To my ears there was no difference
in sound quality (through an £80k audio system) although EAC/FLAC has a
wonderful 'geek'

skin. If you can't a file in your skin's folder, then it's inherited form
EN.

Agreed, but the OP also wanted to use his SS to learn Linux. I rarely go
graphical on my SS and I use NFS for accessing my music files.

I've no idea - that's a completely wacky figure. At 10p/kWH (pulling
from my distant memory of UK power prices) that's something like 800W.

Uninstalling and reinstalling worked. Before I uninstalled I looked in
services and noticed that there was no slimserver service. When I
reinstalled I chose the option to always run or run when windows
starts, I can't remember. It's better for me anyway because I don't
have to log in.

I'm lucky in that regard, I have plenty of accents in both filenames
and tags and don't have any issues. In some cases I thnk iTunes

Did a little blue box pop up asking you if you wanted to allow
Slimserver to act as a server ? You need to tick yes always to this
for ZA Pro to work.

My 4 zone amp is actually 4 separate receivers. They sit in my
basement and speaker wires run to remote locations. For control at
those remote locations I use the remotes that came with the receivers
