Yes I really should read a bit more before committing finger to

I'm using slimserver 6.3 and have also performance problems. My scan is
also very slow. It needs more than an hour to scan nearly 600 Albums

An extract of my logfile for 1 Album is shown at the end of this

You can see there, that it need 10 seconds for 12 somgs.
The log looks pretty standard to me, other than the time taken to

If you go for one make sure the version you get has slimserver
installed as you won't be able to add it yourself.

that's the sort of thing I'm looking for, why can't I install slimserver

use it for storage and run slimserver on my linux box !, thanks for your

If you buy from certain sites such as the cooltopia one (which is the
main supplier in the uk)linked above, it comes with a version of
slimserver already installed on it. Qnap decided they wanted a closed
system. I basically got the 500 gig version figuring then I wouldn't

Slimserver can only be installed by the supplier of the Qnap, but

Hi all,
I have been having lots of problems ever since I removed 2x SB1s from
my system.
Today, I read the very useful guide

I've been using SB2 (wired) & SB3 (wireless) for a while, no probs.
Also playing through the PC via slimserver & softsqueeze.

Just a quick question, which of the plugins work with the Qnap with
slimserver installed? AlienBBC does work doesnt it? And how about the
Test Match Special score plugin? What support will there be in the
future for plugins as things change and move forward?

I guess that is the difference, this is happening to me every 2 days or
so. But from the sound of it there is nothing that can be done.

I'll put in another recomendation for the Qnap TS-101. Very nice device.
I was extremely impressed with the build quality when i opened the box.
The pics online make it look quite brown, but the front is gloss black
plastic and the body is dark grey aluminium. Very solid construction.

There is no way that AlienBBC could be ported to SqueezeNetwork. The
computing power required to transcode all the streams it would be asked

There would also be a question on the legalitis of this. Any stations

AlienBBC is included by default with the TS-101. Other plugins need to
be included in the SlimServer install that Progressive put together for
the Qnap. There is no facility to include you own plugins.
I don't know if anything special has to be done to the Perl for
SlimServer and it's plugins to

this problem occurred with using Music Magic Mixer from MusicIP

I got the ReadyNAS NV a few months ago. I put it on my LAN and have only

reliable. It has 4 SATA slots so is good for 1.8TB Raid5 with currently

All of a sudden SlimServer won't start on my computer. Double-clicking

Rebooting does not help: uninstalling and reinstalling SlimServer 6.2.2
does not help.

It sounds like it's too small, quiet, and lo-powered for your
consideration - but I really like my KuroBox - mine has a 300 gb drive,
