I have 5 Homeplug devices tied to SlimP3's throughout the house and I
have convinced my friends with SLIMP's to buy several also (Devolo
among other names). They just work right out of the box. No more "bad
wireless days". No worries about wireless security. My music no longer
cares when the wife
RadioIO provides the OPML directory, so it should just show up
automatically. :)

Nothing too complicated. Since you have wireless I'm assuming you're
running a wireless router. All you'll need to do is run an ethernet
SlimServer 6.3.1 on a G3 iMac.

Either power-cycle the SB to get to the network setup menu or press
left on the remote for 5 seconds. Select "Set up networking" then
"Connect to an ethernet network". Then just specify IP address
settings like before and go.

Thanks all for the very helpful posts. After considering for a few
minutes I realized that in my particular setup I can move the
cablemodem & router downstairs behind the stereo stuff and wire
everything (network drive, squeezebox, laptop) to the router back there
with short cat5 patch cables
even though all the tags in my compilations say "various artists" and
all are checked as compilations, when browing by artist with slimserver
6.3.0 - 7701 some get listed under artist "various" while others are
listed under artist "various artists". how do i get them all under
"various artists"?
When you have a blank screen does the server think ther is a player
connected?

Squeezebox is now pretty much dead.
I did, after rebooting three times get a request to update the firmware
again. I did this. And now, after going through the network connection
stuff again I get "Connecting To SlimServer" and then a black screen.
Can only reboot.

I tried to get my Squeezebox to connect to my alternative 6.5 version
of SlimServer and the box froze at "Press Right now to use SlimServer".

I have 6.3.1 with the latest NV beta 'b7' and I have the same problem.
It's a little silly, as after installing the font add-on from the
Infrant forum it now displays crylic characters fine on the SB3 display
and in the browser, but not simple acute accents such as é.

One thing to point out. 6.5 includes additional features to reduce
dropouts on linux if they occur when you are viewing web pages. Pat is
running this and it may be an option for your laptop (if you are linux
litterate - its probably too big a step otherwise)

6.5 has actually had a lot more tuning to improve performance, but it
possibly requires a bit more memory. I would recommend trying 6.5
rather than hunting for the cause of delays with 6.31.
It is nearing the end of development and so either wait a few more
weeks or try one of the nightly builds
You could always install slimserver now and try it out on your computer
with softsqueeze before you buy. That would give you confirmation of
the answers provided by above.

Since installing 6.3.* I have spent quite a bit of time trying to get
my system stable again. I thought I'd got it sussed and then, for no
apparent reason I started to suffer from drop outs, something I'd not
experienced for a long time.

The Devolo High Speed 85Mbit work superbly. I have four of them and I

find an artist then an album and play it, after 30 secs the
screensaver (I use MusicInfo) cuts in, then if I use the left key I'm

Seems like a challenge to me! I have also tried the stream in
foobar2000, but it doesn't work (I've always managed to stream with
