Can you run SC as a service then?
I haven't been able to find the option since the changeover, so I'm
having to rdc onto my server once a week to start it up again (it's
installed under my RDC account).

RS232 is only useful for very simple control signaling, and even then
it's usually easier to use IR instead. Also, it's too slow to do
artist/album browsing and such. For Crestron, you should use
IP/Ethernet if your controller supports it. I think there are modules
already available that support

In any event, I have been trying the squeezecenter on my PC plus the
duet controller, still no good. Other services work, but rhapsody
doesn't and rhapsody works fine in its own web application. Very
confused.

Me too. Browse Album list is too long. I usually browse by artist, genre or
year, as the list is smaller, or play random stuff until something comes up
that I fancy and then play an album from that.

I started the thread with my problem but I solved it by uninstalling the
software, and then re-installing it. The second time I was very careful
to indicate exactly the iTunes Library folder, and I gave it a lot of
time to scan through the library.
It appears to work now.

My son, who is on 7.01, had a scanning problem too. The scan would never
start, no matter what type of scan was initiated.
Very strange and only after the 7.01 update.
Reinstalling the software fixed the problem

I have a few playlists that I'd like to import into the new favorites or
my radio menus. But you can only import opml. I don't see how to
generate opml from my playlists.
Does anyone have a converter script? Or am I missing some trick?

IMHO SC already tries to do too much and there's possibly an argument
that its current form should be split between streaming music/ being
the go-between for

clearly, the first thing to point out or point at is the lack of info
in my v2 tags (other than RG info) for that one album.
but i think a reasonable argument could be made that SC should at least
look for v1 info if such important v2 info such as album, artist, title,
etc...

what surprises me is that no one has taken the open source SC server,
and made it a plugin for something like winamp.
i wouldn't have the foggiest idea about how to go about that, but it
seems to me that an app like winamp could do all the user/os stuff, and
the plugin would then handle the serve

there is much to love about this system. But despite the power and
flexibility of the software, its poor music management continues to
frustrate me.
For example, I have a large music library, and often just hit "random
play"
i think i put my finger on it...
but first i need to correct what i said in the first post. my albums
are tagged AC/DC, its just the dir and filename that is AC-DC. in any
case...
that missing album has v2 tags, but the only values in it for v2 are
replay gain values. the rest of v2 is blank.
I've never had this problem.
- I don't use Guess Tags. (Delete all patterns under Settings >
Advanced > Formatting > Guess Tags Formats)
- The artist folder is named AC-DC.
- Files are tagged with ARTIST=AC/DC.
Everything appears under AC/DC and no albums are missing.

I had a similar problem on my Vista machine. I reinstalled SqueezeCenter
and now its working properly. Definitively not the most elegant
solution. But I don't have the time to deal with this right now.

There is a way to rip 5.1 audio and stream IF your SB3/Transporter is
connected to an AC3/DTS decoder. I've done this with almost 50
AC3/DTS/DVD-Audio discs. It is SO much more convenient to listen this
way as opposed to popping a disc into my DVD player.

I tried synchronizing - If I select "synchronize" with the Squeezebox
active, the MediaMonkey device is greyed-out. If I select "synchronize"
with the MediaMonkey active, then it plays through the computer but the
Squeezebox stops.

I think MediaMonkey and SqueezeBox will appear and work as different
players from the SqueezeCenter point of view. But you can try
synchronizing these two players in the webinterface - depending on the
magnitude of the lag in the software-player this might work.

mp3 and synching to iPod. I must say I'm very pleased with the this
software. It also has some great visualisations.

Are you sure it's the Controller which has fw23? 23 is the current
release fw for the Receiver. Both will automatically update themselves
as needed so you shouldn't ever need to do it manually.

I have to agree, I have some external speakers and drive them with one
of the SB3s however the controller screen is very difficult to use
outside especially with any sun about. I have to move under the gazebo
or go indoors just to see what is playing...

Im running a Netgear N router and everything works perfect. The SB
connects at G speeds and has all it ever needs. My laptop connects at
the N speeds and isn't held back by the SB which is nice. My SB3 is
one of the very few devices I've ever bought that I don't think I paid
enough for.
