Running an SB1 and an SB3 from an XP-based server over 802.11g.
I updated a fortnight ago from 6.5.4 to 7.0.1 and am regretting it,
because the audio stream now suffers intermittent breaks (like when the
Microwave oven is on) on both units. Apart from the software update
nothing has changed

controls unless you enable it on the server.
And here's the kicker, I can't get the squeezebox to see the server
without having a remote control to configure it with...

Update on this - I uninstalled winamp and reinstalled it afresh
(reinstalled plugins, etc) and now I see the currently playing track.
Absolutely no idea what gremlins caused it to lose the "now playing"
info.

What kind of server are you using and what kind of files are you trying
to play? As you have an SB1, are you transcoding any audio formats?
Audio breakup with one version of the software but not another may
suggest that your server is struggling to keep up. SC7 is a bit more
resource hungry than
Got my Roku Netflix player yesterday and set it up using the SB3 as a
wireless bridge. To get the best wireless reception, I have the SB3
placed as high as possible in my TV room, and this configuration allows
me to bury the Netflix player down lower in my rack and still get good
reception.

of box, you shouldn't have too many problems unless there is something
resource hungry running at the same time, or an on-access virus

With current SC 7.1 you can FFW/REW (from WebUI, SB remote and SBC)
Podcast and WMA streams as long as the broadcasting server supports it.
Try it using BBC Podcasts (this link means you do not need AlienBBC

it's 1-4. There were some problems back when the repos were first set
up where the keys got changed so older repo RPMs have bad keys.

The SBC would normally control SB Classic via SC using Wifi but SBC also
has an IR capability (under Factory test menu) which can be used to
control SB Classic.

OK, I can reproduce this on CentOS 4.6. I have no clue what's wrong,
but I'll file a bug. In the meantime, you can get SC installed by
disabling the gpgcheck. Edit /etc/yum.repos.d/squeezecenter.repo and
change gpgcheck=1 to gpgcheck=0.

I'm trying to set up a new Duet, and i can play music through it from
the web interface, but not from the remote. Sometimes it finds the SB,
other times it cannot find the network. Does anyone have any advice on
a set up procedure or specific things to look for or to avoid? Thank

Realise that I'm joining this debate a little late but I have the same
problem with my Duet Controller, which is curently running official
release 7.0.1 r2448.
Executing the Keypad Factory test reveals that the:
- 'Previous' button also lights up the '+' and 'Back' buttons;

slimp3. This is possible because the controller doesn't communicate
with the squeezebox, it talks to SqueezeCenter. SqueezeCenter does all

scan for new ect... It seems it would be fairly simple but maybe thats
why I'm not a programmer. Many times I run across albums that will have
a simple mistake. Today I found I had two of Prodigy's Fat Of The Land
albums show

Don't know if this will help anyone else but I've cleared my problem.
I tried evrything I could think of: re-start router, server,
squeezebox, hard re-set of SB, changed IP adress, turned DHCP on,
forced re-load of firmware etc etc and nothing worked -all to no
avail.

I have solved my problems by upgrading to the latest nightly of
Squeezecenter. After a delete and rescan everything seems to be okay.
In answer to David. There were no special characters and these albums
appeared fine in the past.

I have a PC with plenty of speed and memory and a Netgear router that
functions perfectly well. However, my two Duets have been nothing but
trouble. The connection drops, even within 15 feet of the router, the
Controller suddenly stops communicating with the receivers, or cannot
find the network,
I have to agree - the Duet in its current form (Controller and Receiver)
is crap. Based on my experience it is basically unreliable and no, the
fault doesn't lie with the user or my WAP - everything else, including
my SB3s and iPod Touch etc. work fine via wireless using the same WAP.

Point being, you should never expect Nokia to fix a bug, if they do,
it's your good luck. Somehow everyone takes the opposite view since
they're wrapped up in OS SW. Since Nokia doesn't have bug tracking
