i know this b/c that was the case with one of the 2 albums that was
ID'd i mentioned in my previous post.
the code andy quotes shows this. one mismatch on one track (out of two
or more) is enough to get the classification.

Running an SB1 and an SB3 from an XP-based server over 802.11g.
I updated a fortnight ago from 6.5.4 to 7.0.1 and am regretting it,
because the audio stream now suffers intermittent breaks (like when the
Microwave oven is on) on both units. Apart from the software update

The wireless problem in interesting though. There have been a few
isolated reports of breakup with 7.0.x, but not many. It would be good
if we could get this tracked down.
Unfortunately it seems the squeezebox won't respond to the JVC remote
controls unless you enable it on the server.
And here's the kicker, I can't get the squeezebox to see the server
without having a remote control to configure it with...

Update on this - I uninstalled winamp and reinstalled it afresh
(reinstalled plugins, etc) and now I see the currently playing track.
Absolutely no idea what gremlins caused it to lose the now playing
info.

to play? As you have an SB1, are you transcoding any audio formats?
Audio breakup with one version of the software but not another may
suggest that your server is struggling to keep up. SC7 is a bit more
resource hungry
Got my Roku Netflix player yesterday and set it up using the SB3 as a
wireless bridge. To get the best wireless reception, I have the SB3
placed as high as possible in my TV room, and this configuration allows
me to bury the Netflix player down lower in my rack and still get good
reception.

With current SC 7.1 you can FFW/REW (from WebUI, SB remote and SBC)
Podcast and WMA streams as long as the broadcasting server supports it.

i guess i'm lost here. whats the beef? is it with non-standard tags,
or just differences between differing comp tags? is it possible for my
id3v2.3 tags to start with more than 4 characters? ie. TPE1, TPE2,
TCMP?

it's 1-4. There were some problems back when the repos were first set
up where the keys got changed so older repo RPMs have bad keys.

The SBC would normally control SB Classic via SC using Wifi but SBC also
has an IR capability (under Factory test menu) which can be used to
control SB Classic.

OK, I can reproduce this on CentOS 4.6. I have no clue what's wrong,
but I'll file a bug. In the meantime, you can get SC installed by
disabling the gpgcheck. Edit /etc/yum.repos.d/squeezecenter.repo and
change gpgcheck=1 to gpgcheck=0.

the web interface, but not from the remote. Sometimes it finds the SB,
other times it cannot find the network. Does anyone have any advice on
a set up procedure or specific things to look for or to avoid? Thank

tried it. My players (2 x SB2 on wireless 1 SB3 on ethernet) were
fine individually (7.0.1 SC) before. Now I've just got a new laptop so

I tried evrything I could think of: re-start router, server,
squeezebox, hard re-set of SB, changed IP adress, turned DHCP on,
forced re-load of firmware etc etc and nothing worked -all to no
avail.

Squeezecenter. After a delete and rescan everything seems to be okay.
In answer to David. There were no special characters and these albums

is crap. Based on my experience it is basically unreliable and no, the
