After my bold claims that my rebuffering problems were fixed, they've
started again. Back to square one
BTW, I'm running SC on an XP machine with plenty of RAM and a
reasonably fast chip...certainly enough horsepower to do the job. I'm
now thinking the issue

It depends on the bitrate. A typical FLAC file as I've seen in my
collection is between 700 and 1000 kbps. mp3 - it depends on what
bitrate you chose for the compression, e.g. a 128kpbs mp3 file will
require 128kbps of bandwith to play with no issues.
In reality you'll need a little more band
I see in another thread that there has been some suggestion that flac
files have the potential of making unseemly network demands under some
circumstances (like restricted network capacity). I'm not sure if this
is something specific to flac, or if "flac" is being used as a stand-in

also, the infrant allows me to update SC alone, via browser file

It doesn't bother me anymore either, but it is was very misleading and
confusing when I first saw it. Why bother translating an ad for
something that is not available? It made me spend a lot of time trying
to figure out whether I could use Napster or not.

I had the same rebuffering issues with 7.3.3 and wireless. No problems
using 7.2.1. At least in my case something happened to the wireless
connection causing rebuffering issues between 7.2.1 and 7.3.3.

Maybe this is old news, but I was glad to see that our local
Clearchannel AM stations are available on RadioTime. There are huge
powerlines between me and the transmitters - I get nothing but static on
AM radio. We're back on the air, and I'm loving it.

Go for it. I use several IPODS and we have two iphones. Iphone works
nicely for all the uses you have requested (and is a fantastic
controller for squeezeboxes if you use Pippin's IPENG application). I
keep a FLAC version of files for use with SC at home and a mirror image
of mp3 files within itun

Probably. Syncing with soft players is never as good as hardware players
as the software player has no control over the type of audio hardware,
drivers or audio effects enabled - all of which can affect time taken to
sync.
So Softsqueeze may be discarding a few packets while trying to get
audio s
In the meantime I noticed that the media centre player was synced with a
Squeezebox Duet receiver in another room. When I removed the sync the
problem appeared to go away - 3 tracks now and it hasn't skipped. Maybe
