We have a Duet and a Boom and have been happy with them. One note on the microwave issue. Our microwave is halfway between the SBR and the router. (About 20 feet from each, with a couple of walls, too.) We had problems when the microwave was on until that microwave died and we bought a new GE.

It might be as simple as a broken label/seal or a spot check off the production line. Is it just the seal that gives the indication it was opened? Any other indications it was opened/used? But definitely return it if you don't feel comfortable with it. -- toby10 ---
