You might have had better luck (less work) resetting or reconfiguring the wifi access point/router. I'd suggest you backup its configuration if possible once you have things stable again. Then you'd just need to reload the backup configuration if this happens again.

I doubt that any retailers would allow you to return a CD if you claimed you couldn't rip it. You could try claiming that it would play and seeing if they'll exchange it for another copy. Few, if any, places will give you a refund for a CD or DVD that can easily be copied.
