You should bear in mind that 6 seconds is a long time to wait for data.
With your current set up it sounds like you'll wait at least that long
for the requested menu to arrive even if you have a SB3 (which is a far
superior product by the way!).

(assuming Windows) to make playlists. It's generally much faster than
using SlimServer. If need be you can search and replace in the
resulting playlist to adjust the path to your music files.

forces a full rescan on 6.3. I's have though that any scan of a just one
new playlist ought to be pretty instantaneous. Is this how it on your

The playlists seem to be OK as they play in Winamp and Foobar.
The playlists reference the music files by using ../ to get them up a
directory and then down one to access the music.
I don't use iTunes.

I have only updated my 6.2.2 version to the latest 6.2.2 nightly.
I'll find the .prefs file, copy it, uninstall SlimServer and try
reinstalling the same nightly again (as I really want the latest patch
that appears to cure the remote menu list jumt bug).

it. It is very slow on my machine (with 10k flac songs) and
uses all it's capacity. When I first installed a 6.2 beta I received no
warning that it was going to do a rescan, so I just assumed the software
was dodgy and attempted to uninstall it immediately.

XP install on a
dedicated machine, but I think that is the only variable.
My music is installed on a USB 1 connected (directly to the same
machine) Maxtor OneTouch.
Has anyone had this happen to them... or know of any reason it should
have happened to me?
