Inspired by Marth, I checked / refreshed the system time on my Ubuntu
server which runs Squeezecenter; (it looks like it wasn't being updated
correctly)
And this seems to have resolved the issue immediately; my SB2 + Boom
now sync perfectly.
Thanks for the help all.

I get the same behavior, except I don't run squeezecenter from VM-ware
but on a regular Windows XP PC with enough performance (3.7.2).
I get exactly the same sync problems as described in this thread, but

Unlikely. The clocks in the S2s are generally very stable. More likely
that the server clock is drifting; perhaps there is a problem with it
running in a VM.

The problem definitely seems to be time related. I reset the server so
it was at the correct time but it took a while before the time on the

Time seems to be the problem, the squeezeboxes don't seem to be getting
the time from the server. Is it possible that the time comes from a
time server rather than SqueezeCenter?

It does appear to be a recent problem. Previously synching SB2 to Duet
worked OK with my setup. However
Neil, what version of SC were you running before 7.2?
Thanks for the log. It is interesting. I appears to show a discrepancy
between you server's clock and SC's idea of the player's clock. The
series of "adjust jiffies epoch" messages shows an unusual pattern.

Just want to mention that I am experiencing the same sync issue as the
OP.
Trying to sync my SB2 with my new Boom; I found the SB2 was approx 5
seconds behind the Boom. So watching this thread with interest.

Just after I posted this I upgraded to 7.3.2 and the problem went away.
Also when I go to the track info for a playing track on the squeezebox
it says the file format is FLAC, I don't have LAME installed and there
isn't any other process running on the server, so I am fairly sure it

The Squeezebox (SB1) has no hardware decoder for FLAC while the SB2
does. So your SB1s are definitely playing a signal transcoded by
Squeezecenter. Unfortunately, they can't sync well.

I have several squeezeboxes and have noticed that I get a massive delay
when trying to synchronise between squeezebox's and squeezebox2's, the
delay is a about 2-3s with the squeezebox's first. Should these 2
generations of squeezebox be able to sync?
I am using SqueezeCenter 7.3.1 and my music
