I am constantly having to develop presentations that eventually end up in a
binder with tabs. This, needless to say, is a royal pain considering that the
presentation has to be designed, then printed, then tabs have to be printed,
then the presentation has to be sorted to then insert the tabs,

What I think Sean is talking about is analogous to a note pad and a

Hello,
We already have a simple demo component that can be installed as an
extension(!) and will give you tabs in OOo (needs at least OOo2.1 IIRC).
It is on its way to become an SDK programing example. Currently I'm not
sure if it is already part of the 2.2 SDK but I can check this next week.

Just a quick suggestion for a feature:
Allow users to assign custom keys to specific characters. One of the only
places I really miss Microsoft Word is when I'm typing papers for the
sciences. I would really love to be able to assign ctrl-shift-o to the
degree symbol, ctrl-shift-a to alpha,
I'd never done it before but I couldn't believe it wasn't possible, so
I just poked around and was able to bind ctrl-shift-o to the degree
symbol.
I used Tools Macro Record macro; recorded inserting the character;
saved the new macro; then did Tools Customize Keyboard, under

Potentially it may be - but OOo needs to consider the entire
population... For me that function is not something that I use much at

What you can do however is attach the command to a button then put it
on the table tool bar. That way it is only a single click on an icon

Hi,
I have a feature suggestion for OpenOffice Writer. After I select multiple
cells in a table and right-click, the command Merge Cells should be
conveniently available in the right-click context menu so that I don't have
to go all the way to Table-Merge Cells, since it is a very frequently
