I don't particularly care for that book as the author goes on tangents that didn't seem to belong in a database design book. The author also seems to go to great pains to avoid discussing normalization

I am a book learner. It really depends on what type of learner you are. Of course at a couple hundred dollars you won't be able to afford any hard core classes. You will be able to buy all of the books you need. A couple of good CF books, a good database design book, and maybe later one good book
