Friedrichshafen is Europe's largest hamfest and is the Dayton of Europe.
I've attended a couple times in the past, but couldn't make it this year.

Here in Chicago we have a single site 1.2 GHz FM repeater on a 46-story
building in downtown Chicago. The repeater has a 25 - 30 mile range to my ID-1
mobile in a flat urban environment like the Chicago area. Unlike 2m or 70cm I
notice no picket fencing or flutter on 23cm.
