Roland, As a sanity check, re-check the voltage at the left end of R30 while tuning 40 meters, it should not be constant. If it is constant, the VCO is not tuning. If you have no tuning on 40 meters but the rest of the bands tune fine, the most probable component at fault is C71 in the VFO Range

For some reason now I can't seem to get the S-meter calibrated, or at least it won't stay where I put it. When I do a S-LO, I set it to just go out... then when I hit menu to go back to the freq readout, the s-meter will jump up to about mid-scale.. All this is with no signal input of course..

Roland, I suggest you start by re-checking the VCO voltage readings as specified on page 61 of the manual. At the time they were done, you ahould have had all voltages within range. Ask yourself what has changed in the VCO area since that time - the answer would normally be 'nothing'. You may w

Wow, You know I've done that test 4 times now and this time it was really different on 3 bands on 30,40,15 meters I get 8.4v. That is very different from before. They were always within range. Before I did Phase III, my voltages were 40m hi=1.7 / lo=3.2 30m hi=3.5 / lo=4.1 15m hi=2.6 / lo=5
