I have discovered a problem with my K2 #3511 which has all the latest updates,
and has been an excelent radio for the last couple of years. While using the
K2 in the contest this weekend, and operating from 40 meters and up using my
center fed dipole that is 250 long fed with 450 ohm ladder
Kurt,
You could be correct that rectification in the TR switch in the KPA100 is at
fault, BUT that should not take place under normal conditions.
Check the bias voltage to the TR switch (junction of R11 and R12) if it is
lower than 90 volts, that is your problem - trace it back to the origin. A

tunner. Not in use but works very well. Serial 40507 Hex Key can go with it
if desired (very good paddle incidentally)

No joy during power calibration. On my KAT100, Ive completed the initial
tests involving the LED sequences, the Menu and Relay tests and all appears
fine. However, after completing the SWR Bridge Null Adjustment at 10mV and
then moving to the Power calibration of R4, at pin 5 of U5, with 20
Thanks to all for the input
When I build computers I also pay attention to the thermodynamics and
air flow inside the case. The fan on the CPU is pulling air through the
heat sink and away from the motherboard and the hot air is expelled out
the back or top of the case and cold air is drawn
Gil,
Check your cables carefully - often a bad coax cable sneaks in and causes
funny results.
You did remember to disconnect the control cable to the KAT100 and
disconnect its power did you not?
Other than that, it sounds like your setup is correct. If you continue to
have trouble, check the
Hi Jim. I downloaded the program and played with it. I also looked at
the source code (and made one change, as I use ports higher than 4 for
my rigs). What are you looking for as far as contributions? In
particular, I was thinking of changing the tuning buttons, and the color
and layout of the
Thanks to the generosity of Don, W6CZ, I have the loan of
an Icom R75 receiver to try my hand at SO2R operation with
my K2.
I remember someone else was doing a similar thing. I'd like
to exchange ideas and questions with anyone else doing this.
Particularly about switching issues.
Fortunately
Hi,
If you plan to use one for receiving and the K2 for transmitting, MFJ
do a antenna RF auto-sense switch that do exactly what you want to
do. Now, I'm looking to use 2 K2 at the same, on the same HF multi-
band antenna and with one mic also. The RF switching is THE key... I
do not have
Kevin;
You may not want to use foam tape. The heat's effect on the tape's
glue should create quite a mess and eventually eliminate the
stickiness of the tape. It would be interesting to know what other
folks have done to keep the fans in place.

When I was experimenting with a box fan on top of the KPA100 heat sink, I
simply affixed four soft plastic feet to the corners. The kind one finds at
the hardware store to protect table tops, etc.
They had enough traction to keep the fan in place on top of the fins without
any other adhesive,
I use four desk drawer bumper pads. They are sticky on one side to
mount to the fan, round and about 3/8 diameter with enough friction to
keep the fan in place.
Works for me.

I took two small rectangles of cardboard, punched a hole at one end,
and secured them to the back of the K2 using the chassis screws.
The 12V 3 fans are lashed
Jean -Francois,
The Volume Control Mod only applies to K2's with a serial number below 3000.
Since yours is #4130 it is already incorporated in your PC boards.
Relax!

Hello all,
Well, I made 11 Qs at a covered bridge on Saturday operating ssb and cw.
Sunday I changed my mode to psk31 and had around 50 QSOs. Worked a few
ARCBS Members too. I even worked Ivor, M5PLY ARCBS # 37, over in
England! We had a nice chat. Looks like psk31 was the mode of choice for

Hello all,
Just a note to all. WA3WSJ ARCBS #1 is not eligible for any awards so
send in those logs etc. Looks like high score to date was turned in by a
psk31 station. Send them in no matter how small the score because you
just might take an award! This is the first year and the CQWWSSB Contest
Good Evening,
Tonight we had two nets once again. Twenty meters sounded like cotton
was in my headphones. Forty meters started well but changed during the
course of the net. On twenty AK and HI were quite strong while on forty
AK started strong and then grew much weaker when KL7CW
