Hi;
Thanks to all of you who gave me an answer ! Seems like I will have to
pay $59 for 2 side panels as I don't feel like doing them myself ! I
will need the KIO2 as I'm building a full remote station.

Mark,
Yes, your math is correct, and since your BFO is at a lower frequency than
the IF, that should give you LSB output - something strange is going on
here.
Let's take this off-reflector after this note, because we may have to
exchange a bit of detail information. It may be of interest to some
Tune to 7000 and put the counter probe into TP1 and tell me what the

Mark,
The BFO frequencies look OK, and the 3.7 marking on your crystals say that
the IF frequency should be close to
the center of 'normal' (=usual), so if you have inverted sidebands, we need
to look for something else awry.

Yes, that is an important piece of information.
Move the L34 tuning slug up to near the top - 1 to 1 1/2 turns in from the

I should have reiterated that the IF tuning slug bottoms out as the
snr is improving -- is something wrong with the IF frequency or is
this just a side effect of the filter problem?

John,
There is a phone jack on the adapter that will ACCEPT an external PTT switch
(A footswitch is commonly used).
If you have nothing that you can use for a PTT switch, you can always use a
key or paddles - just close the dot paddle in SSB mode and the K2 will go
into transmit.

The Proset-K2 has no PTT switch; you'll need to supply one. The
adapter shipped with the Proset-K2 has a jack that will accept a PTT.

Using 40 meters, tune in a signal, then tune the pitch of the signal to a
lower tone, observing which way you turn the VFO dial - if you have LSB or

Another point for the KIO2 is that if you want to use a K2 without

Go to Tom Hammond's web site, www.n0ss.net, scroll almost to the bottom, and
you will find a place to download the last shareware release of Spectrogram.

Hi Fred and all,
I found using MixW for setting up my CW, SSB, RTTY filters much easier,
using the waterfall. Its $50, but the free trial version should work fine.
If you do the digital modes you will probably end up up using MixW anyway.
I have a lot of the CAT commands entered as Macros in MixW.
Hi Elecrafters.. maybe that question has already been posted, but I ask it
again. I plan to use an IC-706 MKIIG for SSB/VHF operations and a K2 for CW
only. I have a Daiwa CS-201 coax switch. The ''output'' of the switch will
go to an ATU (LDG AT-100Pro), and the inputs to each of the rig.
