to my 3 rigs and compare them head to head under tough conditions.
After extensive listening with all 3, the K2 has emerged as the clear
winner in the group. It stood head & shoulders above the other two in

Has anyone had transmitter problems with your KX1 in below freezing

On my RF board there are holes for a capacitor, but no designation. The holes
are right next to C159 and the Q22 heat sink. Anyone know what capacitor that
is? I am missing holes for C162 for instance.
This is probably a known issue, but I still have a lot to learn!

No issue at all, those are via holes (to transfer the board pattern between
the top and bottom layers). C162 is on the other side of Q22, it is not
missing.

enough response at RF frequencies, that it is responding to your RF keying
waveform, as well as glowing with the steady DC of the supply. You might

years since I've been using the K2, so I'm happy. Especially since the
K2 was not working right up until last Thursday (needed new diodes in the
PA100 SWR circuit). I worked N4OGW and K5WA from

The real answer depends on your confidence level that you have already made
no errors in the assembly.
It really will not hurt anything, but it complicates matters for debugging
if you had made an assembly error.

I have recently got Larry’s LP100 digital wattmeter (factory calibrated).
I therefore used it to re-do the power calibration of KAT2 with K2. I did
it according to the manual by adjusting R1 to get a matched reading between
K2 and LP100. The K2 was set at 7100khz.
