This occurs in running in a contest, where you have positioned the

With new firmware 4.17, what is the significance of the position of your
transmitted CW signal on the P3? It moves when either WIDTH, PITCH, or ALT
(switching between CW and CW REV) is changed.
In the past, the transmitted signal always appeared at center frequency on the
P3.

I spoke too quickly. Wayne is referring to changing the AFP freq. I was
referring to tuning the RX. Tuning one or both is aimed at getting the desired
signal to the peak. .001 is very useful for really weak sigs. Having the shift
control move the APF 5 hz vs 10 hz would also help in combination.
Ron - I'm referring to tuning the RX to hit the peak of the APF, not the APF.
The ability to do it .001 with FINE tuning (or .05 in the next release TBD)
allowed me to tune to a peak a very weak 9UØA on 80m that was much more
difficult and less effective with the tuning at .01. Especially when t
I would also like to thank the Elecraft crew for another great enhancement.
I updated the firmware a few minutes before a local traffic net here.
During the net, I was asked to receive 6 messages from a weak station. With
both the NR and APF turned on, a marginal situation became solid copy.

I'm not clear on the value of changing the APF center frequency

Hi All,
I'm learning to drive my new K2/100 and have reached a conceptual block that
will betray a fundamental lack of understanding, but here goes anyway...
My K2 dial frequency reads about 20hz under the actual frequency - receiving

Yes, you can fine-tune (1 Hz) using either the VFO or RIT.
In addition, it looks like the next release may provide 5-Hz
increments for tuning the APF center frequency (presently 10). We're
testing that now.

FINE tuning ON can be very helpful on really really weak signals with the APF.

The APF is fantastic. This is the best enhancement to the K3's receiver ever.
The APF performance puts the K3 ahead of every other radio on CW receive.
There is just no comparison. Anyone not using a K3 with the APF will be at a
huge disadvantage in a contest.

I, too, used my Astron SS-30 and Samlec SEC1225 power supplies for years to
direct feed (via the coax) my SG-230 without a single problem. I'm not sure
that the warning you read was even in the manual for the SG-230 when I

In the past I've used a SG-237, a SG-230, a CG-3000 and a MFJ-927 all
