If you decide to use the KX3's I/Q output, be sure that the 2.5mm plug's 'shoulder' doesn't interfere with the top cover. There is a cutout for the RX I/Q jack but it's not designed for Radio Shack adapters (too wide). Some molded cables also have this problem. HDSDR works fine with the KX3, usi

The K3 *is* an SDR as long as one defines an SDR to be a radio whose functions are defined by software (firmware). If your view of SDR is a radio that must connect to a computer soundcard, then the K3 will not qualify because the "computer" is inside the K3 in the form of dedicated processors.

The AGC connection is an OUTPUT from the amp to the transceiver, not an input. Its purpose is to lower the gain, and thus the power output from the exciter when the amp is overdriven. On the L4B / L7 series amplifiers, the way to set it to adjust the amp for max output, then back of the AG

Looking at the TS990s it seems I have set up my K3 band buttons in a sequence that could not be more different (vertical columns, high freq to low, WARC bands segregated in righthand column; though 6m is the same button on both...). Not sure I could get used to the sequence on the TS-990, so guess

Your correct to this point it's still vapor ware no published findings or even FCC approval yet. I also think that QST and Sherwood's reports will make or break this radio as they have with all other high end radios. The first reports will be published in Japan well ahead of here like the Yaesu one

No. Definitely not. But he might need to set TX DLY to 20. That delays the start of RF a little to give the relay in the amp time to close. Symptom that it needs that adjustment is a little arc or "spitting" when the first bit of RF is generated. My L4B was doing that, and after moving TX
