Wayne has assured me that torn pads are no problem as long as pieces are not
pulled off and lost, and I have been through that many times with no
deleterious effects on my KPA100!

If you can clip the bad diodes off at the glass enclosures, you may be able
to simply lay the new ones in place and solder their leads to the stubs
sticking up out of the pcb, then trim the excess off. I can tell you from
years of experience that a lot of field repairs are made that way on

Ariel.
While it is sometimes possible to clip the leads on the top of the board
and use the remaining leads to mount new diodes, I suggest that "is
cheating". I always remove the board from the heatsink and de-solder
the diodes from below.
Usually, the thermal pads will stay in place and can b
Hello Tony,

You didn't say what you're using for a CW interface.
Don,
I took off the shield on the KPA100 and those two diodes are tight against the
back panel and the toroid. What would you recommend is the best way to
desolder and replace those? It is tight against the back panel and a toroid.
I do not want to risk damaging the nearby toroid - so I thin
John,
If the KAT100 is used with the basic K2 (no KPA100), then the KAT100
will provide the forward and reverse power indication and those values
will be displayed by the K2 during a TUNE.
When the KPA100 is connected those forward and reflected values come
from the KPA100. A similar calculat
Hi Group,
I've just finished building and calibrating a KAT100 to go with my K2

fine.

Long thread, getting confused.

Hi All,
Last Saturday I got a notice from Elecraft that my KAT500 was "in the loop",
and for me to confirm my order, which I did post haste. Monday morning I
got an auto shipping notice. I thought, "Boy, that's fast!" The tracking
info said it would be here today. Well, a package did arrive
This is a question for the group and not Elecraft staff.not that I don't
value their input but I want to be a good ham op and not do what I am told not
too. My KX3 serial number is 1990 and the KXPD3 and KXBC3 were put on back
order. I know the folks at Elecraft are shipping these items now
I'm amazed at what a high proportion of my contacts recently have been ops
with KX3s. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with it being relatively new, so
will get preferential use from hams who have plenty of options, but it
still surprises me. I'm only doing CW and hanging about the QRP watering
holes
If one looks at the schematic there is a JFET buffer between the IF and
the IF out in the main RX. Isolation and impedance matching is its
function. There is no stock IF out for the subrx and hence no JFET.
JFETs have really high input impedances.

Hi,
I have absolutely no dip in the center of my LP-Pan display and I have never

Jim,
I was able to make it work. I have an E-MU-0202 card capable of
192KHz, but I only use 48KHz as I like the definition better.
I was unaware of any internal laptop sound cards that will run at
greater than 48 KHz. If your sound card input is stereo, I suggest you

Has anyone with a KX3 successfully interfaced the HDSDR program to be able to

Is it likely in the future that the K3 and KX3 will support a 63 baud
