John, I would double check the filter configuration of your K3 using the K3
Utility under "Configuration - Configure Crystal Filters"

Dave, which part of the instructions indicate your board needs the mod?
The Elecraft Web site says K3's before: "about Oct 7, 2008, about S/N 1900"
The revision marked on your board has no bearing on this. Boards needing
the mod will measure 604 ohms at R19 and R20 as Joe mentio

Beautiful - thanks Lyle (for the response and for coding the feature)!

rough both L & R
channels. The subreceiver audio comes through fine on the right channel
when it's turned on.
Can some other folks please check their K3 line out and please let me know
if you hear the same thing? Perhaps this is by design.
Thanks & 73,

No, you need to use the same offset values for the same filter position in
the main and sub receivers. If the marked offsets aren't too far apart, you
can use the average of the two values for both receivers. That works fine
for my 500hz and 200hz 5-pole filters.

50 & 100hz dsp width?
That's what you need to do.

It's not just the search functionality that was lost with Nabble being down,
but the ability to reply directly to a message that you read online.

Even if you can tune a 40m wire on 160, that doesn't mean it will work
well. In my experience, short wires for the low bands are an exercise
in futility.

I'll be a cookie or some other parameter expired 12/31/10. I noticed
this was also a problem on a couple of web BBS's I visit - they lost the

there were some issues with split
operation and inability to clear RIT from the keyboard, using the popular
contest and logging programs). I loved my FT1000D, but it's getting old,
replacement parts are no longer available, etc. I have no regrets owning
the K3.

For everyone's info, the stock K3 A vfo knob makes a great K3 B vfo knob as
well.
It DOES fit and many of us have matching vfo knobs on our K3's.

I looked around and just went with Digi-Key P51ACT-ND ("805" size)

The K3 Line Audio Output mod described in
http://www.elecraft.com/K3/mods/K3_AF_Stage_Upgrade_Instructions_Rev_B.pdf
calls for 51-ohm 1/8 watt SMD resistors. Can anyone provide a manufacturer
or Digi-Key part number, or the correct SMD package size?
Thanks & happy holidays,
Barry
A classic, Phil!
I've had solder drop on my leg while wearing shorts, but that was the worst
for me.
BTW, my wife came in to see what I was laughing about and I had her read
your post. She didn't get it - though Mr. Happy referred to a toy or
stuffed animal :.)
