Actually there is a pretty good substitute package ng peanut made of starch.
(You can eat them, although I don't suggest it having ng "demoed" that in many
a warehouse tour years ago) they also hold less of a charge and "melt" in
water. Pretty cool stuff and recommended!

Have just switched on my KX3 after non use of 1 month, will not work on
batteries as they have discharged. Also when I use external power source
(13.5Volts) the following lights flash, TX. Delta f, OFS and B. There is no
Display.

Drifting back on Topic...
20 meters, great DX modest antenna requirements, good PSK activity. If a
major contest is in progress, 30m or 17m. If all that fails, I'll switch
to Satellite (TV not Ham Radio) and look for a good old BW movie like
Casablanca. :-)
