Shortly after I graduated from Cal Poly Pomona (in Pomona, California) I
purchased a Kenwood TS520 from Henry Radio in Los Angeles. It was one of the
few brand new rigs that I have purchased. I kept for almost 20 years until I
traded it for an Icom IC 735. Both were excellent radios. I still have
Well put. I learned code from a former world war II Merchant Marine radio
operator back in the 60's. He had me copying 25 wpm code groups, not plain
language, effortlessly by the time I took my Extra class code test. I used
to be able to carry on at 25 wpm. But I found 18 - 20 wpm was a very
A very good idea. I'll bet not very many know about it unless they are
old timers. A lot of people were preoccupied with the Washington State
Salmon Run last weekend. Most activity was on 80 and 75 because of the skip.
I wonder how many would have taken time out to help if they had been

It looks like the K3 will be with us for a long time to come. At least I

I hope to be able to purchase one after the dust settles. Perhaps in 2013
