Knut, I like to keep all my versions separate also. Later versions of the utility will create a directory for you. In the Local folder for Firmware box, just type it in, or browse to your location, then add the \dirname. After the first time, all you have to change is the dirname. You

The K3 Utility does indeed use WinInet. However clearing the browser cache shouldn't be necessary as I think I tried to select options to bypass local cache. Clearing the cache may not do what you are trying to do unless you use IE for this cache clearing step. Not all browsers use WinInet.
