Contact Elecraft support. At one time (long ago), Eric said that those
concentric knobs would be replaced at no cost to the customer. Perhaps
that directive is still in place.

As far as I know Elecraft will replace these knobs for free, whether out of
warranty or not. Just send them an E-mail.

The machined knobs look great...also you can get a Collins S-line knob and
remove the
skirt so it will fit on the K3...
Then take some lead weights or BB's or what ever ...place them inside the
Collins knob and glue them down..
Be careful to keep everything symmetrical in the placement of the B

I received mine VERY fast but I'm in the US. As a retired postal clerk I can
tell you lots of stories about shipping thru customs. I retired before 911 but
even in 2000 some countries were fast & some slow or stop. Even the smallest
padded bag took a month to clear customs in France. One custom

The engineering concept of these knobs is certainly reasonable. For
example, when nested knobs nest properly, that's just fine.--they look good
and work as planned. Great concept!

the concentric knobs. They wobbled badly enough that they could not be
nested together and didn't feel right to me. I solved the problem by
making a bushing for the knobs by wrapping a single layer of thin
packing tape,

I'm partial to the Stock Knob with a finger dimple, I've also played with a
friends that has the Yaesu knob, but with the weight and ease of spinning
I like my FT 900 knob (see my website www.qsl.net/w3fpr), but this is the
one that needs the added 'drag' pad thickness, and has no depression for a
'finger-dimple'.
I have seen the rubber tire from the Yaesu FT-900 knob placed aroung the
stock K2 knob - it takes a wee bit of stretch, but it fits,
I'm partial to the Stock Knob with a finger dimple, I've also played with a
friends that has the Yaesu knob, but with the weight and ease of spinning on
that knob it's great for screaming across the band, but very touchy when
fine tuning.
Of course I much prefer sitting here using Peter and Simo
I have the FT 900 knob on my K2 and love it including the dimple. HOWEVER
for ease of quick tuning and better filter selection, I love the N4PY
software to control my K2. Just can't be beat for ease of operation.
