[Emc-users] live cd staleness

ubu8 and ubu10 + emc2 installs both provide the Axis gui errors, cant do anything without homing for any mdi command following the machine completing the homing sequence.  is there a way to get an up to date live cd with relevant patches and current bug fixes, or is the distribution only

has anyone been able to create a pc based machine controller which is dedicated to the task of machine control?  for example, if i were to try to use a gcode file to mill a part, i would not really be trying to browse the internet, listen to music files, share videos, or play games.  is there

Sounds like you have something misconfigured with your homing. I use a touchscreen, and never type on the keyboard unless I want to do 'administration'. Authentication? I don't have any of these problems. Turn it on, select the G code, and hit start. On Mon, Aug 8, 2011 at 6:14 AM, charles

IMO, you need to stick to the lastest distribution. The further back you go the more bugs you will encounter. A couple of other tools you can use to make things easier.. If you want to show us your error, take a screen shot of it - the print screen key works - save the image and post it on a

the exact message is, Can't issue MDI command when not homed.  AXIS EMC2.4.6 on Ubuntu 8.04.  the homing sequence is axis2=0, axis0=1, axis1=2.  axis3 is not included in the home sequence and has no pins assigned to homing switch in the hal ini.  the configuration is a mill xyza millimeter.

Charles, Does the EMC2 screen show axis3 is homed? If not then you have not homed the machine completely. You will continue to get the message until axis3 is homed. EMC2 requires all configured axes to be homed prior to running. Have you posted your configuration files? If not, would you please do
