Ok, I over-reacted..
The parallel port has always been designed to sink, not source. So while I
can get 5V from the USB port or the CNC machine, I can't get 15mA from the
port is it's not there. If you're making a machine, having 5V on hand is no
more difficult than your stepper supply voltage.

That hurts just thinking about that! That's really bad.
I know where Grayling is.
Because there is no 5V on the parallel port?
Using a common 0V allows the Gecko to connect directly to the LPT port,
something that is simply not possible with the Chinese drives or others that
use 5V common.
Or I didn't understand your question...

Yes, Mariss mentioned this years ago. In a simple drive
with minimal configuration setup, the only reasonable way to

Hi Gene,
I got a link with the purchace of a bob just like that:

A simple schemiatic of the board breakouts in a pdf and some shady mach3
stuff. Hope it helps.

I got a G203V in the post today, and am confused.
Why on earth do Gecko drives use a common ground on the inputs, especially
if they're targetting the parallel port market?
Even the ching drive referred to in this discussion has it the right way, a
common Vcc.
And does anyone know why Gecko has s
