Yes, that is on my to-do list. Linux and Windows file dialogs work
slightly differently in the way they handle extensions and it looks like
I haven't fixed the g-code dialog.

didn't tack on the .ngc extension.

It is my development system which is used for more things than just EMC. In
fact I don't run EMC from this machine other than testing, it is only used
to compile from source.

works so far and doesn't seem to stomp on anything else. Please don't give up

Sorry to report, but loading sheetcam seems to have severely affected
packaging functions (apt-get, synaptic, etc). Both the packages sheetcamlibs
and sheetcam installed with errors, but sheetcam itself seems to be working.
The problem is, synaptic, apt-get, etc. now do not.

V0.0.23 last week using the autopackage. No problem.
Last night, I followed your instructions and had no problem uninstalling
V0.0.23 or installing V0.0.24. I

Sorry about that. You caught me in the procsess of testing some changes.
I have changed over to using a private set of libraries. Uninstall the
existing sheetcamlibs then re-download and install both the libs and
application. Hopefully it should now work.

program that had to run on many different versions of windows. I finally
ended up building statically linked executables. These contained all the
necessary code and did not depend on the users run time environment.
