That's pretty much what i was thinking although i wasn't thinking overwriting the iconbar entirely... BTW - I've never used a mac so i don't know what they're like :) Still not convinced of the point though, it's not really removing any clutter, just moving it to a different area of the screen.

I was talking about this to Andy actually. This sort of follows the concept the Apple people use for their menus. Except we're moving all applications menus / buttons away from the application to a central location. You could, I guess, have a special tool bar that appears when a certain app is run

I agree that it would certainly seem to be a cleaner look and I guess argueably more natural to how you would work at a conventional desk and I do kindof like the idea... - there's a but coming :) But, I'm not convinced that removing the application's frame complete with it's one stop shop of tool
