Michael,
I guess the term detuned is in question.
By running isinteg, how does it detune the indexes?? By what means are
the indexes kept intune?
I'm curious also.
Thanks,
Tom

Hello
I have an exchange 2003 sp1 which runs HTTP virtual server. Lately the
HTTP service started to fail the only way to get it back up and running
is to reboot the exchange server. I really need input on how I can
restart the services without rebooting the mail server.
Dr
Iisreset.exe
Or you could figure out why the service is crashing and fix that problem.

Happy New Year to all !!
This may be a normal observation, but one I do not understand.
Within our default E-Mail Addresses policy (Exch2003 Ent.) we do setup
one X400 connector for each user. What we see today is that some users,
and it appears random (sure it's not), now have more than one

If you are running Symantec Mail Security, the IIS crash is a known
issue. You will need to be on version 5.06 at build 368 or higher.
Or do like I did and dump Symantec Mail.

I understand that you can eliminate white space in an Exchange mail
store by either an offline defrag, or moving mailboxes to a new store.
I have a few related questions:
1. If we use an archiving solution like EV to archive messages,
will this create more white space?
2.
That didn't work I tried that several times. How would go

As Michael pointed out, take a look at your event logs, to see if they give you
an Event ID that you can then Google to figure out what’s causing your IIS to
crash. May not have anything to do with Exchange at all…

Can anyone recommend a solid reporting product for Exchange? A product
which can give us detailed info of our user's email patterns, they types

If you want to get fancy schmancy, you can use a weighting system based
on store size and user count per store. You can also add white space
percentage to the weight as well, so that larger stores with lots of
white space would be more preferential to smaller databases that are
already growing.
You've really got 3 choices.
a) Your current method
b) Do it by store size
c) Do it by user-count per store
You pays your money and you takes your chances. I'm not convinced that any
are better than the other. You always have to be ready to re-balance the
stores when it
Urg. Non-trivial to explain.
I tried to find a public document that describes some of what isinteg does
on a technical level, but couldn't.
Historically, isinteg was a debugging tool for PSS. It allowed them to scan
a store and in the case of corruption, basically get rid of the offending
piece

Yep. The Patch requirement went away with 200x as the store does it
automatically.
FWIW, you only had to manually patch a store that was restored from an offline
backup or to a different server.
Personally, if I ever had to repair a store, my next step is to move mailboxes
to a clean store
