ummm on mine I had to go into /usr/share and do ln -s
/opt/kde3/share/icons icons. To get them back. KDE has had this on
again off again love affair with opt no wait usr no opt... and
it's really mucking things up.

In /etc/lilo.conf does the section for your newer kernel have a line like this?
append="hd?=ide-scsi"
I'm sure the stock kernel section does because the cdrw is working.

Try KDE Control Center -> LookNFeel -> KeyBindings and map the windows key
to the popup launch menu. This works for my left windows key, but not for my
right... The left windows key is recorded as F13

I have my computer runing Mandrake 8.2 with both: kde 2.2 and kde 3.0.1.
Under kde 2.2 the left windows key open the kde menu, the right windows
key doesn't run.
But under kde 3.0.1 neither of those keys run.

So I made a fresh install of MDK 8.2 from the boxed version with sec

drives and carry one in our kit for service calls. (The CFO loved it
when I showed him how we could save 200 bucks per box + give everyone a
