I was trying to import from kmail. For some wierd reason I had a
mixture of formats. Evo found it impossible to read either the
maildir folders or the individual entries inside them. The solution
turned out to be to make a mbox file and copy all the mails into
that, then Evo could import it.

I needed apache_1.3.22, so I installed it to /opt/apache and disabled
the auto-startup for Apache2
Maybe you can copy your apache to a safer location, and change the
ServerRoot ?

I always use fdisk CLI to create the partitions needed, and mount them
in the GUI-app from the installation-process. I never experienced any
problems with this.
In expert-mode there should be an option to use fdisk, isn't it ?

Can I run chmod so that it only applies the changes to files or only to
directories. I don't see an option in the man page that does this, but I am
sure it must be possible. I want my files to be set to 644 and my
directories to 755.

Since I don't use raid I can't be much help. I do know that my Highpoint
loads the hptraid module. Have you tried to load the Promise module

To do the changes you propose, you will want to use find and
chmod together.
I will assume you are at the base of what you want to change.
To change files:
find . -type f -exec chmod 644 {} \;
